R.C.'s family moved a lot when he was a child, as a result he was raised in many towns in northeast Pa., Va. and W.Va.

Eventually R.C., who loved all the moving and traveling decided to hitchhike across the country.

Between relationships and three attempts at having and raising families R.C. managed to travel most of the country, most of his trips were madefrom the side of highways, sticking his thumb out.

He found New Orleans, LA. while hitchhiking in 1976. He had planned on staying in The Big Easy for no more then a couple of weeks, just long enough to make some money and hit the road again.

He fell in love with the city and stayed for over two years before the travel bug bit him again.

Once again he was on the road but swore that if he ever decided to settle down it would be as an artist in New Orleans.

R. C. Sprague has been an artist all his life, and for over fifteen years now has made his primary living as a freelance artist. He sold his first piece of art at age fifteen.

R.C. managed to make it through a semester and a half of commercial art studies in a small community college but, the classroom was not the way for him to go. He read all the artbooks he could get his hands on and studied with a variety of artist while developing his own style. He still watches and studies what others are doing and continues to learn, grow and change as he works.

R.C. has traveled most of the country and sold artwork in most of the states he's traveled through. There are people that collect his work in, LA., FL., CA., PA., NJ., WV., NY., MS.,
and he has sold artwork in most of the continental United States.

He paints in oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoal and pencil on many different surfaces
including but not limited to canvas, paper, wood, and glass.

He paints in a wide variety of styles from natural to abstract
subjects from wildlife to nudes, scenics to portraits.

He says he'll paint any subject he's commissioned to paint in any style his client wants.

He also paint murals, (any subject, any style), and is quite talented in decorative painting. He's painted murals, (residential and commercial), in many different states for homes, restaurants, offices, stores, etc.
He's also done decorative painting all across the country and can give your home, office, restaurant, bar, etc. that special look that would fit your style and taste. A few of his more popular effects are, brick and broken wall, marble, vines, copper look, gold look, columns, and more.
